INTRODUCTION:
Compared to today, many aircraft during WW II had little help when it came to navigating the skies. During the early days of the war, pilots relied heavily on visual references and dead reckoning (distance over time) to get where they wanted to go. As time progressed during this era, a web of air navigation radio stations and beacons connected by “airways” began to cover the globe.

However, in this package you'll find 10 missions that will allow you to challenge yourself to navigate using only visual references and/or dead reckoning under various weather conditions. Some of these missions are relatively easy, some are difficult, and some are very difficult, if not impossible.

For each mission a special map has been included in the mission folder (..\Navigation Challenge\Large Route Maps), and a smaller version has been added to the kneeboard. These maps show the heading and distance between the route waypoints. You can use this information to help plan your route whether using visual references or dead reckoning (calculating time between waypoints). Before starting a mission it is advisable to review the map located in the mission folder, as it is a large version and will make planning easier.

After you've completed the first 10 missions (recommended), there is a "random mission loader" named "RANDOM ROUTES AND WEATHER" that you can have fun with. This file is located in the ..\Navigation Challenge\Randon Routes and Weather sub-folder. This mission file will randomly load one of thirty navigation scenarios - six different routes are included under five different weather conditions.

Work your way through the first ten missions in sequence, and become a better navigator in the skies.

INSTALLATION:
Extract the contents of the ZIP file to your ..\Users\<User Name>\Saved Games\DCS\Missions folder. When done you will see a "Navigation Challenge" folder placed there.

USAGE:
This series of missions was not put into a Campaign in order to let you load the missions in any desired order. However, it is highly recommended that you work through the missions in sequence. After that, you can go back and fly them again in any order. Additionally, once the first ten missions have been completed, you can load the RANDOM ROUTES AND WEATHER mission loader and have fun flying the various navigation routes under different weather conditions.

I hope you enjoy this package and have fun with it.
